Title:Continuous Improvement Manager
Thor Motor Coach is hiring a Continuous Improvement Manager to join our team. As the Continuous Improvement Manager, you will be focused on the Thor Motor Coach Production System, projects, supporting talent development and continuous process improvement at one or more assembly plants. You have have deep functional understanding of manufacturing operations, continuous improvement, project management, and talent / team development methodologies. You will need to be able to bridge people and process with system design.
Our CI managers plan, coordinate, and direct internal teams at multiple plants to accomplish projects that move TMCPS operations forward. This individual will be able to work under aggressive timelines and cultivate high impact projects in addition to those defined by the business to accelerate our growth. The CI managers will be able to partner with TMCPS operations teams and support teams, e.g. purchasing, quality, et al, and bridge gaps between the processes. They are executors, have a bias for action, and get the right things done that make a positive impact. They will be able to define scope of work and project timelines and avoid scope creep ensuring completion on time and within budget. These individuals are also a central point of communication to all stakeholders and an extremely effective communicator; highly organized with an understanding of all aspects of a project with solid project management skills.

What You'll Do:
  • Able to develop people, teams, and process project opportunities and work with leadership and operations to define need and anticipated benefits
  • Ability to understand and become a subject matter expert, SME, on the TMCPS and drive projects within a tight schedule window to improve the integration of people, system, and process
  • Ability to leverage methodologies to assess gaps in our talent development and operations processes
  • Oversee all aspects of the TMCPS CI plants plan
  • Prepare, publish and maintain a project schedule with milestones for all cross-functional stakeholders
  • Manage physical infrastructure projects such as capacity and process flow projects, material flow and presentation, cart design, employee productivity efforts, and warehouse design
  • Monitor project progress, incorporate resolutions to potential project delays and communicates project status to leadership on a timely basis
  • Ensures smooth and consistent communication and exchanges of data between operations and internal stakeholders 
  • Prepares a concise and thorough budget and resource plan for CI projects
  • Oversees and executes the development of SME's running bi-weekly conference calls and working with TMCPS operations contacts to improve communication flow between all stakeholders
  • Develop metrics and reporting systems as required
  • Travel as a CI manger may be required and depending on the current project assignment(s) could range from 0% - 30%
What You'll Need
  • Bachelor's degree in HR, business, or technical area
  • 7+ years technical experience with project management
  • 5+ years leading a department or business unit
  • 5+ years functional experience in implementing process changes and managing large complex projects
  • Strong analytics and communications background (e.g., math, statistics, quantitative methods, and verbal and writing proficiency)
  • Lean manufacturing , cellular, or high velocity manufacturing and continuous improvement  experience and history of running projects that leverage these methodologies with outstanding results
  • Comprehensive computer application skills - Office, Project, MS Dynamics AX
  • Cross functional team management experience
  • Perform business requirements analysis, budget development, resource plan and design
  • Act as the primary liaison between TMCPS leadership and plant management teams
  • Perform gap analysis between present condition and future operations needs and have the ability to vet project requests and prioritize them accordingly
  • Build structured prioritization and change management processes
  • Identify and recommend operations improvement opportunities to meet ever increasing business requirements
  • RV, Specialty Vehicles, Mass Transit / Shuttle Bus OEM experience nice to have
